Hoshizaki IM Series

High Fidelity Ice Creation

This animation was the kick-off moment of the collaboration between TEKNO and Hoshizaki. After having had a presentation about ice cubes for more than 2 hours, we knew that Hoshizaki is a party that is serious about the quality they offer. In addition, we have invested the necessary time in R&D for the development of the ice cubes in 3D. In any case, we will never look the same at an ice cube again.

Hoshizaki was looking for an animation party that could not only reproduce their machines in a correct way, but also take the viewer along in a story and visualize the internal processes in a visually appealing way. 3D product animation has turned out to be the solution for Hoshizaki. In this way, their machines can be rendered accurate and visually appealing, and the internal processes can be visualized in creative ways. The visual freedom that 3D animation entails provides more creative space to tell your story even more powerfully.

The Story of Automation

TEKNO was asked by Hoshizaki to come up with a surprising concept, something that is not standard, something that makes people pause or stop scrolling for a while because they are curious and want to know more. After our conversations with Hoshizaki, we learned that multitasking is one of the most important skills of a bartender. That means that automating a process is invaluable to a bartender. For this reason, in the animation we initially fool the viewer by implying that the bartender has an extra set of robotic hands to help him before we initiate the transition to the actual machine.

For this animation the liquid simulations were key. Because of our previous product animations we now have quite some experience similating liquids. Creating a seperate layer of foam was especially challenging. We presented several looks of foam to the client and eventually got the right amount of detail and the correct physics. We also added other details such as condensation on the glasses.
